- 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-American (Second Team)
Villarreal's senior season was capped by a second team CoSIDA Academic All-America nod that let her leave Hammond as one of the most decorated student-athletes in school history. The 2015-16 president of the Southeastern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Villarreal earned the President’s Medal for Academic Excellence. For her excellence academically and athletically, Villarreal was named the Southland Conference Player of the Year, the Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year and Louisiana Player of the Year following her senior season. She was named first team All-Southland and All-Louisiana for the fourth consecutive year, while earning her third selections to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 and Southland All-Academic teams. On the court, she posted an 18-3 overall record and a 10-1 mark in league play in No. 1 singles, while also teaming with sophomore Dalina Dahlmans for a 17-2 showing (9-1 Southland) on the No. 1 doubles court. Villarreal finished her remarkable Southeastern career with a 73-9 singles record – good for fourth on the program’s all-time singles victories list.
