Southeastern Louisiana closer Mason Klotz was named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team.

Klotz, one-of-two Southland Conference pitchers, joins four other players from the state of Louisiana in receiving national recognition. He compiled a 3-0 record and team-high 11 saves to go with a 2.63 ERA in 41 innings pitched, all in relief. The right-hander fanned 37 batters while allowing just 29 hits (.204 opponent batting average).

A graduate of Livonia (La.) H.S., he split time as the Lions' closer with junior Dylan Hills before claiming the full-time role at the end of April. Klotz earned seven saves in his final nine outings and allowed just one run in his final 18.2 innings of work.

He earned the win in Southeastern's season-opening, 5-4 win over UT-Martin (Feb. 15) and picked up his first save with three hitless, shutout innings against Tulane (March 12). His 11 saves were the second-most in the Southland this season.
