Franklin, a senior from Oneonta, Ala., posted a 5-2 record with a 2.60 earned run average in 2009 for the Lions while setting the school-record with 12 saves. Franklin, who is second in career saves, smashed the previous record of eight set in 2007 by Minnesota Twin prospect Chris Province.

Southeastern's workhorse reliever held opponents scoreless in 18 of 24 relief appearances and worked more than one inning in 12 outings.

Before being moved to the bullpen exclusively midway through the season, Franklin also served as Southeastern's starting third baseman. Franklin hit .261 (35-for-134) with nine doubles and 26 runs scored in 35 games at third.

“We're really proud of what Chris has been able to do since joining our program,” Southeastern head coach Jay Artigues said. “This is a tremendous honor and is very well deserved. Chris will definitely be a key factor for us as we get ready for the (2010) season.”
