The first golfer to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, Martin du Toit helped Southeastern to its first Southland Conference championship in 1998 and a 23rd-place finish at the NCAA Championships. The 1997-98 Southeastern Male Athlete of the Year, du Toit earned a berth in the 1997 NCAA East Regionals as an individual and finished second in school history with a 73.95 career stroke average.

Selected as the first Division I golf All-American in school history in 1997, du Toit was named the Trans America Athletic Conference, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association and Louisiana Athletic Directors' Association Golfer-of-the-Year after ranking 11th nationally and posting the lowest stroke average (72.09) in school history.
