Richard Sharp was a standout performer for the Lions from 1951-55, earning All-Gulf States Conference honors three times. He also received the E.L. Liston Award, one of the nation's most prestigious honors, given by the NAIA for the combination of athletics and scholarship. That year he also helped lead Southeastern to the NAIA quarterfinals. He and his wife, Glory, have been supporters of Southeastern Athletics for over 50 years. The Sharps were instrumental in thefounding of the Student Academic Activity Center in the Dugas Athletic Building that has been remodeled and moved to Strawberry Stadium. Sharp also served as interim Athletic Director 2000-2001.
