Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame
Anthony Vereen, a four-year letterwinner in football, was a first-team All-Gulf States Conference selection in 1978 under head coach Billy Brewer. An NAIA honorable mention All-American and first-team All-District in 1980, Vereen ranked second in school history with 12 interceptions and was drafted in the 9th round by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1981 NFL Draft.
Vereen, who led the Lions in punt returns, kick returns and interceptions during his career, was a starter in the 43rd annual Blue-Gray Game in 1980 and was named honorable mention All-Louisiana.
