An All-Gulf States Conference halfback as a sophomore, Hubert Polk was one of the top return men in Southeastern history. Polk led the team in punt returns in each of his first three seasons. His 367 yards in 1950 and 331 yards in 1951 both rank among the highest single-season punt return yardage totals in school history. He ranks second all-time in Southeastern history with 756 career punt return yards. Polk was also a track letterman.
