Renee Villarreal played for the Lion tennis team from 2013-16 and is the only three-time Southeastern Athlete of the Year in school history. The only four-time first team All-Southland performer in program history, she was also a four-time first team All-Louisiana choice and is fourth in school history with 73 career singles wins and was 38-4 in her career in Southland singles matches. A member of the 2013 Southland Conference championship team, she put together one of the best all-around seasons as a senior in 2016. She was named the Southland Conference and Louisiana Player of the Year, earned CoSIDA Academic All-American and Southland Student-Athlete of the Year honors. Upon graduating, she received the President’s Medal for Academic Excellence, which is the highest academic honor for a Southeastern graduate.
