Southeastern Throwers Continue to Impress at Leonard Hilton Memorial

Houston, Texas – Junior Misha Frazier shattered yet another school record after winning the women's shot put event at the Leonard Hilton Memorial on Friday.

Frazier, the reigning Southland Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week, tossed for a second place distance of fifty-one feet, 8.25 inches; breaking the record previously held by Shalicia Rochon since 2011 (46-06.66). The Kenner native also won the women's weight throw event for the second week in a row, turning in a winning distance of sixty-two feet, 2.25 inches

The Southeastern Louisiana track and field teams recorded a total of four first-place finishes at the Bill Yeoman Field House.

"We had a very good meet today," said head coach Sean Brady. "We had a chance to see some of our conference competition, and it was a good test of where we are."

Junior Raheem Brown placed first in the men's 60-meter dash, posting a time of 6.86 seconds. The Houston native was also a part of the men's 4x400 relay team, who placed first. Brown, senior Brendon Mitchell, junior Ashley Riley, and sophomore DJ Woodard combined for a winning time of 3:25.28. Woodard also placed third in the men's 400-meter dash (51.57).

Also posting impressive numbers was the group of men's throwers. Junior Alex Young won the men's weight throw event for the second week in a row, tossing for sixty-eight feet, 9.75 inches. Following right behind Young were teammates Jonathan Kinchen (2nd, 67-01.25) and Brett Olsen (3rd, 66-10.00).

"On the men's side, our throwers continue to do well," said Brady. "When you can sweep an event like that, that says a lot."

Other top finishers for Lions were: junior Kadarius Williams (men's high jump, 3rd, 6-04.75), junior Gennard Paul (men's triple jump, 3rd, 48-04.00).

On the women's side, five Lady Lions finished in the top-three spots in their respective events.
Junior Domonique White placed second in the women's 200-meter dash, posting a time of 25.33 seconds.

The women's 4x400 meter relay team, made up of White, Bayleigh Butler, Vanessa Williams, and Kayla Quincy, placed third with a combined time of 4:02.33. In the women's triple jump, junior Shaniqua Knowles also came in third with a mark of thirty-nine feet, 2.25 inches.

"It was a great experience to have our athletes line up next to some of the best athletes in the world," Brady said. "That's always eye-opening for our athletes."

Next week, Southeastern travels to Birmingham, Alabama for the Vulcan Invitational, hosted by UAB.
