HAMMOND – Justin Boudreaux went 2-for-5 with three RBI, including a run scoring triple in the third inning that helped Southeastern Louisiana erase a 2-0 deficit and defeat Sacred Heart, 11-3, in the nightcap of a doubleheader Sunday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

In the opener, Jonathan Pace went 3-for-4 to fuel an 11-hit attack while Tyler Watkins pitched seven scoreless innings in helping the Lions to a 10-0 victory.

The four-game series concludes on Monday in a 6 p.m. contest. The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net. Southeastern (8-3) will send redshirt freshman Matt Pittari (0-0, 0.00 ERA) to the mound for his first collegiate start.

GAME 1 – Southeastern 10, Sacred Heart 0
Southeastern scored two runs in the third inning before breaking the game open with an eight-run frame, all with two outs, in snapping a two-game losing streak. SHU starter Matt Fitton (0-2) opened the inning getting Jacob Fisher to fly out and Brock Hebert to ground out before hitting Trey Martin with a pitch.

That opened the floodgates as Southeastern collected five straight hits beginning with an RBI triple by Cass Hargis that gave the Lions a 3-0 lead. Pace followed with an RBI single to right before moving to third on a double by Boudreaux down the right-field line.

Jeff Harkensee followed with a two-run double to right that chased Fitton, who went 3.2 innings and allowed seven runs on six hits. Josh Cryer greeted Pioneer reliever James Ineson with a double down the left-field line before Cody Gougler drew a walk and Fisher tripled into the right-field corner.

Martin got Southeastern on the board in the third inning after he was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame. Martin stole second and to third on a sacrifice bunt by Hargis before Boudreaux drew a two-out walk, stole second and scored on Cryer's RBI single to left.

Watkins (2-0) scattered four hits and fanned two for Southeastern before Mat Cox and Martin finished out the game on the mound. Hargis and Cryer had two hits each for Southeastern, which had five extra-base hits and scored eight of its runs with two outs.

GAME 2 – Southeastern Louisiana 11, Sacred Heart 3
Sacred Heart (3-3) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after the first inning and Rob Griffith and Hunter Phillips each hit RBI singles off Southeastern starter Joseph Koon (2-1). But Koon settled down after that, pitching seven innings and striking out seven in earning his second consecutive victory.

Southeastern scored four runs in the third inning to take the lead for good before adding a run in the fourth, five in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Boudreaux, who scored twice, laced a triple to right in the third off SHU pitcher Kody Kerski (0-1) that tied the game at 2-2 before Harkensee hit an RBI single to give the Lions the lead for good. Cryer followed with a double to left-center field that plated Harkensee and gave Southeastern a 4-2 lead.

Hebert gave Southeastern a 5-2 lead in the fourth when he was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a grounder, third on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out RBI single by Pace.

Boudreaux added a two-run double to left in the sixth and Harkensee hit a two-run single to extend his hitting streak to 10 games that put the Lions ahead, 11-3, before Hargis added an RBI single in the seventh that scored Gougler.

The top four hitters for Southeastern went a combined 7-for-15 with 10 RBI. Hargis went 2-for-3 with two RBI while Pace was 1-for-3 with two RBI and Harkensee 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Jacob Ott and Steven Poche pitched a scoreless inning each for the Lions. Steve Tedesco went 2-for-4 and scored twice to lead Sacred Heart while J.J. Edwards was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
