HAMMOND, La. – The back-to-back Southland Conference regular-season champion Southeastern Louisiana University baseball program is set to open its four-game fall exhibition slate, squaring off against Memphis at 12 p.m. Saturday at Keesler Federal Park in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Keesler Federal Park is the home stadium of the Biloxi Shuckers, Double-A minor league affiliate of the World Series-bound Milwaukee Brewers. Tickets for Saturday's exhibition contest are available in advance through Ticketmaster.
Southeastern (34-21, 19-9 SLC in 2026) took two of the three games in the series during the last regular-season matchup early in the 2025 season at Memphis.
Fourth-year SLU coach
Bobby Barbier and his staff welcomed 11 new hitters and seven new pitchers to the program this fall as the Lions prepare to defend their back-to-back conference titles. On the mound, the Lions return more than 50 percent of the innings logged last season.
A total of 23 players return off last season's championship squad, including Southland Hitter of the Year
Peyton Woods and All-Conference pitcher
Nik Toups.
Senior shortstop
Connor Cuff, who impressed this summer during an abbreviated stint in the Cape Cod League, joins Woods as the only everyday starters returning in the lineup. The Lions are looking to replace starters at three of the four infield positions, as well as catcher, center field and the designated hitter slot.
