Military Appreciation, Senior Night Highlight Final Regular Season Series

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana wraps up the regular season this weekend, hosting non-conference opponent Seton Hall in a three-game series at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
 
The series opens Thursday with a 6 p.m. Cane's Challenge contest. If the Lions (34-17) score four or more runs against Seton Hall (28-21), fans will be able to redeem their game ticket or student coupon at their local participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers by the end of business on Friday for a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
 
Friday's 6 p.m. game is both Senior Night and Military Appreciation Night. All fans presenting a valid service member ID will receive free admission. Prior to the game, seniors Carson Crites, Jacob Seward, Derrick Mount, Webb Bobo, Ryan Byers and Cliff Hurst will be honored in a special ceremony.
 
Southeastern is also hosting the Special Olympics in Strawberry Stadium Friday evening. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid any traffic or parking issues.

The regular season wraps ups with a 12 p.m. contest Saturday.
 
All three games in the series can be heard in the Hammond, Louisiana, area on KSLU 90.9 FM, and worldwide online or through the TuneIn Radio app (search for KSLU). Fans can keep up with the game through live statistics or by following @SLUathletics on Twitter.

Thursday at 6 p.m., the Lions will send freshman right-hander Bryce Tassin (2-1, 3.21) to the mound opposite Seton Hall junior righty Chris Morris (2-2, 3.31).

Sophomore right-hander Corey Gaconi (5-4, 2.62) gets the starting nod Friday at 6 p.m. for Southeastern.
 
Neither team has announced a starting pitcher for the series finale.
 
Taylor Schwaner (.335), Carson Crites (.308), Drew Avans (.306), Derrick Mount (.286) and Ryan Byers (.274) lead Southeastern at the plate. Crites and Schwaner are the Southland leaders with 13 home runs. Schwaner ranks fourth nationally with 68 RBIs. Mount is sixth nationally with eight sacrifice flies. Avans ranks ninth nationally with 25 stolen bases.
 
The Lions are hitting .256 as a team, with 83 doubles, 18 triples and 47 home runs. Their 102 stolen bases rank sixth nationally. Southeastern's pitching staff enters the series with a 3.84 ERA, having fanned 363 batters through 454.1 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .244 off Lion pitching.
 
Southeastern is coming off an 11-3 loss Tuesday to Southern Miss at MGM Park in Biloxi, Mississippi.
 
Matt Toke (.295), Mike Alescio (.290) and Ryan Ramiz (.287) lead the Seton Hall offensive attack. Jo Poduslenko paces the team with six home runs and 30 RBIs. Ramiz has swiped a team-high 16 bags.
 
The Pirates are also hitting .256 as a team, with 86 doubles, 17 triples, 16 home runs and 67 stolen bases. Seton Hall's pitching staff enters the series with a 3.29 ERA, having fanned 421 batters in 435 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .234 off Pirate pitching.
 
Regular weekend starter Zach Prendergast, who has tossed back-to-back shutouts, was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Pitcher of the Week after throwing a no-hitter Sunday at Villanova. Prendergast needed only 82 pitches to go the distance and strike out a career-high 10 batters. 
 
General Admission tickets for Lion home games are $9 for adults and $6 for children (ages 3-12). Tax is included in the price of admission. Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card.

Students and campus organizations can earn points toward their Lion Up Loyalty account at any home game by checking in on the mobile app while in attendance.

Ticket office hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The box office at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens one hour prior to the scheduled first pitch.
 
Southeastern's season continues Wednesday at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas, with a first-round matchup in the Southland Conference Baseball Tournament.
 
 
SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT
Tickets for the 2017 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament, slated to run May 24-27, are being sold through the TDECU Ticket Office at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas.
 
The double-elimination tournament will feature the league's top eight teams and conclude with a winner-take-all championship game May 27 at 6 p.m. CDT. The winner of the tournament will receive the Southland Conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA tournament.
 
Tickets can be purchased through the TDECU Ticket Office at Constellation Field (1 Stadium Drive, Sugar Land, Texas 77498), by phone at 281-240-4487 and online at www.southland.org/baseball.
 
There will be a minimum of 13 games played during the four-day tournament. Game times the first three days of the tournament are 9 a.m., noon, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. A minimum of one game and up to three games could be played on championship Saturday.

An all-tournament pass, which allows entry into all 15 possible games of the tournament, is $60. A single-day pass, which will include four games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with a possibility of three games on Saturday, is $19 each day.

Children, age 5 and under will be admitted free of charge, while students at Southland Conference Institutions will also gain free admission with a valid student ID.
 
New in 2017, Play Land will be open inside the ballpark from 4-7 p.m. each day and 5-8 p.m. for Saturday's championship. The interactive area for children includes a playground, inflatables, and a carousel.
 
Youth, student and other discount tickets are available only at the TDECU Ticket Office at Constellation Field.
