2017 Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll

2016 (Junior): Dual-threat athlete … hit .264 with eight doubles, three home runs and 21 RBIs … started 35 of the 40 games in which he played … scored 19 runs and picked up five stolen bases … second on the team with five sac bunts … turned in nine multi-hit and four multi-RBI performances … produced a nine-game hitting streak (April 22-May 13) … hit .750 (6-for-8) with a runner at third and less than two outs … also pitched in 11 games, all in relief … compiled a 1-1 record and two saves to go with a 6.10 ERA in 10.1 innings of work … held opponents to a team-low .184 batting average, walking seven and fanning nine … tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings to earn his first collegiate save in Lions’ 4-2 victory at Southern Miss, beginning Southeastern’s school record 14-game winning streak … earned the win in Southeastern’s 7-6 comeback victory at No. 27-ranked Tulane (April 5).

Junior College: Hit .368 as a sophomore with 12 home runs, 40 runs scored, 41 RBIs and 19 stolen bases … compiled a 1-3 record and picked up a pair of saves in 24 innings pitched … team captain earned All-Region honors … as a freshman he turned in a .345 batting average and a .435 on-base percentage … drove in 32 runs and also scored 32 … added 12 doubles, 2 triples, and 16 stolen bases.

High School: Played baseball at Harrison Central HS ... helped lead the Red Rebels to a 6A South State Championship ... earned first team All-State honors … named Coast Player of the Year … selected to the Coast All Star Team and the Crossroads All Star Team … hit .511, scored 46 runs, knocked 11 doubles, a pair of triples and one home run to go along with 20 RBIs as a senior … compiled a 5-1 record and 0.90 ERA on the mound, striking out 60 battters in 39 innings pitched … team captain as a junior and senior.

Personal: Born Derrick Michael Mount … son of John Morgan … has a brother, Dillon … enjoys fishing and working out … majoring in general studies.
