SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – Southeastern Louisiana senior
Paul Obermann shot a 1-over 145 to lead the Lions' golf team through the first two rounds of the UTSA/Lone Star Invitational Monday at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
Obermann opened the tournament with a 2-under 70 before shooting a 3-over 75 in the afternoon round. He is in a 10-way tie for 38
th.
Southeastern is in 13
th place with a 588 following rounds of 295 and 293. Seventh-ranked Illinois holds an eight-shot lead over UTEP and No. 15 Oklahoma with a 27-under 549. The Illini tied the 2015 Lions' record with a 16-under 272 in the first round.

Obermann opened his day with nine straight pars before recording a birdie on the par-5 seventh. After a bogey on nine, he birdied both 10 and 11 before bogeying the 13
th. He rallied with a birdie at No. 14 for a 2-under 70. Obermann birdied the second and fourth, then eagled the par-5 fifth to get to 2-under for the second round. He double-bogeyed the 12
th, then recorded a quadruple-bogey on the 13
th before coming back with a birdie at 14.
Senior
James Anstiss finished the first day in a six-way tie for 48
th at 2-over 146. After a double bogey on the 18
th and a bogey at No. 1, Anstiss rebounded with birdies at four, seven, 13 and 14 to shoot a first-round 1-under 71. He birdied 16 and seven while recording a pair of double bogeys and two bogeys before finishing with a birdie at 13 for a 3-over 75 in the afternoon.
Sophomore
William Meyers had the best round of the day for Southeastern, a 3-under 69 in the second round. Meyers birdied 17, 18, four and six to go with a pair of bogeys at 15 and three. He eagled the seventh to get to 4-under before bogeying nine and 10. He came back with a birdie at 11. Meyers was at 2-over in the first round following birdies at 18 and nine but had a bogey at 13 and a quadruple bogey at 14 to finish at 7-over 79, His 4-over 148 has him in an eight-way tie for 57
th.
Sophomore
Joris Etlin joins two others at 65
th following a 5-over 149. Etlin had birdies at seven, 10 and 14 to go with five bogeys in a 2-over 74 second round. He birdied the 16
th, second, fourth and eighth in the first round while recording three bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey for a 3-over 75.
Senior
Gustavo Leon, competing his first tournament of the spring, is in 79
th at 22-over 166 following a pair of 83s. He birdied the fifth and 12
th in the first round and the fifth and the eighth in the second.
Oklahoma's Max McGreevy broke the tournament record of 8-under 64, shared by Southeastern's Anstiss in 2015, with a 9-under 63 second round. McGreevy earlier shot a 3-under 69 and holds a one-shot lead over Illinois' Michael Feagles with a 12-under 132.
