SLU Finishes Seventh at Season-Opening Grover Page Classic

Southeastern shoots nine-under par in first tournament of 2025-26

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team finished with a tournament score of nine-under par to finish in seventh place at the Grover Page Classic, which wrapped up Tuesday at The Links at Audubon.
 
Southeastern closed out the tournament with a team score of 280 (-4) in the final round. SLU shot 10-under par over the final 36 holes with all five starters carding at least one round under par, posting the top finish among all four Southland Conference schools in the field.  
 
Central Arkansas (-38) earned team medalist honors, while Haden Maxwell (-11) of Tennessee Tech earned individual medalist accolades.
 
The Lions were led by Griffin Dorr. The senior from Covington, La. posted a final-round 72 to finish five-under par for the week, earning a 13th-place finish.
 
A pair of SLU freshmen making their debut were next on the individual leaderboard. Gavin Ingram was consistent throughout the week, finishing in a tie for 26th (-2) with rounds of 70, 71 and 70. David Marsh got better as the tournament progressed in his collegiate debut, carding a 68 (-3) Tuesday to finish under par in his first tournament as a Lion (-1, T32nd).
 
Noah Bumgarner also saved his best round of the week for Tuesday, firing a one-under 70 over the final 18 holes to finish in a tie for 59th place for the week at four-over par. Colby Sullivan (+7, T75th), who competed as an individual, and Landen East (+10, 84th) completed the Southeastern contingent.
 
SLU will continue its fall season next week, traveling to the GMAC Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Ala.
 
The Lion Athletics Association will be hosting the 32nd Annual Golf Scramble presented by Tangi Tourism and Hampton Inn Friday at Carter Plantation.
