Strong Second Round Highlights Southeastern's Opening Day at Grover Page Classic

SLU shoots six under par over final 18 holes, sits in seventh place heading into Tuesday's final round

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team sits in seventh place after the opening two rounds of the Grover Page Classic Monday at The Links at Audubon in Memphis, Tenn.
 
Southeastern finished with a two-round team score of 563 (-5). After posting an opening round 285 (+1) on the par-71 course, the Lions carded a 278 (-6) over the second round, as four of SLU's six competitors bettered their round one tally in round two.
 
Central Arkansas closed Monday as the day one leader, riding an opening round 264 to a -26 over the first 36 holes. SLU finished Monday as one of seven teams to shoot under par for the day and the top performer among the four Southland Conference teams in the field.
 
Griffin Dorr was the top finisher of the day for the Lions and vaulted up the leaderboard over the second round. After an opening-round 70, before carding a 66 over the final 18 holes. Dorr (-6) enters Tuesday's final round in sixth place – three shots behind day one leader John-Gregory Wilson of host UT Martin.
 
In his Lion debut, Gavin Ingram was consistent throughout the day. The redshirt freshman sits in 29th place at one-under par after rounds of 70 and 71 Monday. Landen East (T44th, +1) climbed up 14 spots in the individual standings after shooting a second-round 70.
 
David Marsh also made his first appearance in the green and gold. After an opening round 73, he bounced back with an even-par 70 to sit in 54th place. Colby Sullivan (+3, T63rd), who is competing as an individual, and Noah Bumgarner (+5. T76th) rounded out the SLU participants.
 
The final round tees off Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. with Southeastern paired with Tennessee Tech, Bellarmine and league rival New Orleans for the last 18 holes. Live scoring, provided by host UT Martin, will be accessible via the golf schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
