HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will close out its 2016-17 home schedule on Wednesday, when it hosts Southland Conference leader Central Arkansas at 5:30 p.m. in the University Center.
 
The contest between the Lady Lions (5-21, 3-12 Southland) and the visiting Sugar Bears (21-4, 13-2 Southland) can be heard live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at

SLU junior guard 
Bre Warren will be Wednesday's Spotlight Player of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Slidell, Louisiana native courtesy of PRIDE.
 
Southeastern will be attempting to improve its postseason hopes on Wednesday. The Lady Lions have three regular season games and are currently two and a half games out of the final spot in next month's Southland Conference Tournament.
 
SLU will be looking to bounce back from a 92-62 loss to Stephen F. Austin on Saturday. Lady Lion junior guard 
Taylin Underwood led all scorers with 20 points – her 14
th game this season of 20 points or more – but SFA countered by shooting 50.8 percent (32-for-63) from the floor and outrebounding Southeastern, 46-29.
 
Underwood was joined in double figures by Warren, who netted 13 points. Sophomore guard 
Ashailee Brailey led SLU with seven rebounds, while sophomore guard 
Jaclyn Scholvin paced the squad with three assists and three steals off the bench.
 
Underwood, who ranks among the Southland leaders with 18.1 points and 3.1 assists per contest, is nearing several milestones as the regular season hits the home stretch. The Livingston, Louisiana native is second in school history with 160 three-point field goals and needs 27 points to become the 20
th student-athlete in school history to reach 1,000 career points.
 
Underwood also leads the team with 62 three-point field goals. She needs 11 treys to match the single-season school record of 73 she set a season ago.

Taz Stinson (5.9 ppg), Brailey (5.8 ppg), senior forward 
Chey Stewart (5.5 ppg) and freshman guard 
Tyler Morrison (5.3 ppg) are the other top scorers for the Lady Lions. Southeastern is averaging 63.3 points as a team.
 
Rebounding has been an issue for Southeastern in 2016-17, as the Lady Lions enter the season's final home game with a minus-12.6 rebounding margin. Morrison leads SLU with 5.4 rebounds per contest.
 
Defensively, Southeastern is forcing 19.5 turnovers and 9.7 steals per contest. Warren leads the team with 41 steals, followed closely by Underwood (39) and Dugas (38).
 
Southeastern will be facing a red-hot Central Arkansas team that has vaulted to the top of the league standings with 12 straight victories. On Saturday, UCA held Houston Baptist to 25.5 percent (13-for-51) shooting from the field on the way to an 83-39 victory. Maggie Proffitt led the Sugar Bears with 21 points, while Kierra Jordan (15 points, 11 rebounds) and Taylor Baudoin (11 points) were also key contributors.
 
Proffitt is the season leader for UCA, leading the team with 14.6 points per game. Jordan (13.8 ppg) and Baudoin (11.0 ppg) join her in double figures. Brianna Mullins is the team's top playmaker, averaging a team-high 4.0 assists per game.
 
Central Arkansas leads the all-time series between the two teams, 14-7, and has won the last six meetings between the two schools. Back on Feb. 4, UCA pulled away for a 77-55 victory in Conway, Arkansas.
 
In the loss, Underwood led Southeastern with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Warren pitched in with 10 points off the bench. UCA was led by Mullins, who finished with 25 points. Jordan was a force in the post off the bench with 18 points, while Baudoin added 11 points.
 
Following Wednesday's contest, Southeastern will head to Nicholls for a 1 p.m. Southland Conference matchup on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Thibodaux, Louisiana. The game can be heard live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at
