Lady Lions Claim Road Win at New Orleans Thursday

Southeastern had four double-digit scorers in the win over UNO

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team began the final week of the regular season with a 74-64 road victory over the New Orleans Privateers Thursday.

SLU (5-22, 4-16 in SLC) played a hard-fought contest against UNO (3-25, 3-17) in Lakefront Arena Thursday. Southeastern remained close in the game, taking a halftime lead, before playing shutdown defense in the final minutes of the contest.

The Lady Lions had four double-digit scorers, starting with Lihi Azouri's 19 points, making five three-pointers along the way. Aliyah Collins posted 17 points, while Mia Ramos and Taylor Ross notched 15 points and 10 points, respectively. Ramos scored 11 points in the first quarter to keep Southeastern close early. The Lady Lions produced 10 triples from beyond the arc to go 45.5% from that range in the game.

For the Privateers, Lauren Banks and Sephora Kayolo dominated on the defensive end of the floor. Banks had a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double to lead the game in both marks. Kayolo's 10 rebounds were second on the team. As a team, the Privateers made nine triples.

After UNO ended the first quarter with a lead, SLU fought back in the second frame, scoring 25 points to take a three-point edge at the half. Both teams played strong defense in the third to keep the lead intact. The Lady Lions held New Orleans to a dozen points in the final frame to win the game by double figures.

Southeastern will remain on the road for the final two games of the regular season, beginning with a trip to Thibodaux, La. for a 1 p.m. matchup with Nicholls. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
