Nicholls Outlasts Southeastern in Final Seconds Saturday

SLU will end the regular season in Beaumont, Texas Monday

THIBODAUX, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team continued the last week of the regular season with a visit to Nicholls Saturday. The Colonels came away with a last-second 57-55 win over Southeastern.
 
SLU (5-23, 4-17 in SLC) battled through four quarters of Saturday's contest against Nicholls (13-15, 9-12). The Lady Lions ended the third quarter with a lead, remaining within reach of the win until Nicholls sealed the deal at the buzzer.
 
In her 22nd game of the season with double-digit points, Aliyah Collins led all players with 17 points Saturday, sinking three triples. Lihi Azouri also drained three three-pointers, totaling 13 points in the game. Mia Ramos also reached double figures with 10 points. Collins also dished a game-high four assists.
 
Sh'Diamond McKnight had a team-leading 16 points for NSU, while Jesslyn Jalomo (11) and Tanita Swift (10) also got double-digit scoring marks. McKnight led the game with seven made shots, going 7-for-15 from the field. Emani Burks' nine rebounds paced all players Saturday.
 
After Nicholls led by five at the half, Southeastern outscored the Colonels by seven in the third frame, ending the quarter with a Ramos score for a lead, 41-39. The fourth quarter included three lead changes and three ties. With SLU in front and a minute and a half on the board, NSU's Jasmine Matthews made back-to-back baskets with the final score ending the game at the buzzer.
 
Southeastern will travel to Beaumont, Texas to take on Lamar in the final game of the regular season, Monday, at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
