SLU’s Collins Scores 27 Points in Final Game of the Season Monday

Aliyah Collins surpassed 1,000 career points in the loss to Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team ended the 2025-26 season in a 70-52 loss to Lamar.

SLU (5-24, 4-18 in SLC) played the last of three games in five days to end the season, falling to Lamar (20-9, 17-5) in Neches Arena.

Aliyah Collins played one of the best games of her collegiate career against the Cardinals. In her 23rd game of the season scoring in double figures, Collins notched a game-high 27 points for her seventh game of the year with more than 20 points. Collins surpassed 1,000 points for her collegiate career Monday, scoring over 400 points in her first season in green and gold. She knocked down a career-high five triples while shooting 10-for-21 from the floor. Mia Ramos also reached double figures with 10 points for her 11th game of the season with double-digit points.

Only two Cardinals scored in double-figures with T'Aaliyah Miner and Shaila Forman getting 11 points apiece. Jacei Denley led the Southland Conference's second-ranked defense by swiping a game-high five steals to help force 17 turnovers.

After Lamar started strong in the first quarter, SLU's offense erupted in the second quarter to score 24 points, half of which were scored by Collins to get the team within four. However, the Cardinals found their footing before the end of the first half and held on to the lead in the second half to enter the SLC Tournament with six straight wins.

The Southland Conference Women's Basketball Championship Tournament will begin Monday, Mar. 9. The tournament will be televised on ESPN+.
