HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team announced the addition of Brennan Dumas to Head Coach Jeff Dow's coaching staff ahead of the 2026-27 season. The hiring of Dumas is pending approval by the University of Louisiana System's Board of Supervisors.
 
Dow spoke about bringing Dumas to Hammond, America, saying, "We're excited about Brennan's arrival to our program. He has had a wide variety of experiences and job responsibilities that will suit him well as he transitions to this new role."
 
"Plus he has had an opportunity to work for three outstanding head coaches in the past seven years in Bob Marlin, Vic Schaefer, and Kevin Johnson," Dow added. "We're looking forward to what Brennan will bring to the table from his past experiences and what he has learned from those three highly acclaimed head coaches."
 
Dumas arrives in Hammond after serving as an assistant coach with the Southern University men's basketball team in Baton Rouge, La. Under the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Johnson, Dumas helped the team achieve an 11-7 record in conference play. The 2025-26 Jaguars led the conference in per-game averages in assists, steals, and turnovers. Southern's offense ranked second in the SWAC in points per game (78.1).
 
Before coaching the Jaguars, Dumas earned his graduate degree as a graduate assistant with the Texas Longhorns Women's Basketball team for two seasons. Dumas and the Longhorns saw great success, including two conference championships and a trip to the Final Four.
 
Under the tutelage of the 2025 Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year Schaefer, the team posted a 68-9 record in Dumas' two seasons, also winning the 2024 Big 12 Tournament. Following the Longhorns 2025 SEC Regular Season Championship, Dumas became a conference champion and reached the Final Four of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
 
The UL Lafayette graduate served as a student manager for the Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team from 2020 to 2023. The team totaled 59 wins during that time, winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in 2023. Under the Ragin' Cajuns Head Coach Marlin, Dumas worked in a variety of roles, including assisting with game film and workouts.
