"This is our last tune-up moving into the championships," Southeastern head coach
Sean Brady said. "We'll be five days out Friday. We're not going to give them a big load but we wanted to give them an opportunity to compete and just stay sharp heading into the championships. We just want to work on the fine-tuning and on some of the technical aspects of competition. We're going to go in there with the mindset of getting a few things accomplished that will better prepare us for the championships."
Southeastern brought four athletes to the Samford Open this past Saturday with all four finishing in the top five. Junior
Devin King earned Southland Field Athlete of the Week honors on Monday after setting a meet record in winning the pole vault. Senior sprinter
Sharrona Williams tied her school record in the 60 meters. Sophomore
Marcell Kecskemety, competing in his first meet as a Lion, had Southeastern's best shot put of the season, while senior
Julian Maze added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump.
