HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's track & field teams are set to host The Andy Thiel Season Opener, Saturday, Mar. 14, at the Southeastern Track Complex.

Saturday's meet will begin at 9 a.m. with the hammer throw and the 5,000-meter run. All events, besides the discus throw, will start with the women before the men.
Onyah Favour is coming off a strong indoor season, having won gold and silver at the Southland Conference Track & Field Championships last month. The sprinter's first-place time of 23.60 is an indoor school record and the best time by any SLC competitor in the season, good for 20
th in the NCAA South-Central Region. Her school record 400-meter dash of 52.89 is the second-best in the Southland indoor season, 0.01 seconds from tying first.
Returners
Gabriel Lim and
Gerrit Visser will look to improve on their strong 2025 outdoor seasons. Lim earned silver at the SLC Championships last season with a career-best javelin throw of 64.84 meters (212'8"). Visser claimed silver at the Southland Championships in 2025, making a hammer throw of 57.21 meters (187'8").
After hosting the Andy Thiel Season Opener, Southeastern's men's and women's track and field programs will travel to Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Opener, Saturday, Mar. 21, at 9:30 a.m.
