HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team returns home to host New Orleans for Alumni Day on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the University Center.
The Southland Conference game between the Lady Lions (4-19, 2-10 Southland) and the visiting Privateers (12-10, 7-5 Southland) will air on ESPN3. All Lady Lion alumni are invited to return and be honored at halftime of Saturday's game. Postgame, the 1976-77 AIAW National Championship team will be honored on the 40
th Anniversary of its magical season.
The men's game follows at 5:45 p.m. and in conjunction with Saturday's doubleheader, the SLU Athletics Ticket Office will offer several ticket promotions. All children ages 12 and under will receive free admission, while middle school, junior high school and high school students who present their local school ID will receive admission for $3. In addition, all first responders and military personnel will receive a free ticket with a valid service ID or if they are in uniform.

Having lost its last four games, Southeastern is trying to keep its postseason hopes alive. The Lady Lions are three games out of the eighth and final spot in next month's Southland Conference Tournament in Katy, Texas with six games left in the regular season.
Southeastern saw Texas A&M-Corpus Christi out-score the Lady Lions, 25-9, in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 69-53 victory on Wednesday in the University Center. The Islanders were buoyed by a 54-33 rebounding advantage.
In the loss, junior guard
Bre Warren scored a team-high 14 points and made four of SLU's 11 three-point field goals. Sophomore guard Ashaliee Brailey chipped in with nine points, while freshman guard
Tyler Morrison added eight points. Senior forward
Chey Stewart grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Junior guard
Taylin Underwood leads SLU and ranks among the Southland Conference leaders with 17.3 points and 3.2 assists per game. Underwood needs 100 points to become the 20
th student-athlete in school history to reach 1,000 career points and is currently third in school history with 151 career three-point field goals made.
Freshman guard
Charliee Dugas (9.7 ppg), Warren (6.7 ppg), freshman guard
Taz Stinson (5.9 ppg), Brailey (5.8 ppg), Morrison (5.6 ppg) and Stewart (5.6 ppg) are the other top scorers for SLU.
On the glass, SLU enters with a minus-12.7 rebounding margin. Morrison leads the team with 5.3 rebounds per game, followed by Stinson (4.4 rpg) and Underwood (4.3 ppg).
Southeastern enters Saturday's contest having forced 19.4 turnovers and committed 9.7 steals per contest in 2016-17. Dugas leads the team with 37 steals, followed by Warren (34) and Underwood (33).
The Lady Lions will be facing a UNO team looking to win its third straight contest. On Thursday in New Orleans, Randi Brown scored a game-high 21 points to pace the Privateers past UIW, 84-58. Brown was joined in double figures by Mariah Wright (11 points), Jewel Angelo (11 points) and Halie Matthews (10 points).
In Brown, the Privateers boast the most prolific player in the Southland Conference, as she leads the league with 20.3 points per game. Shania Woods follows with 9.0 points per game to go with a team-high 7.1 rebounds per contest.
UNO leads the long-time series, 21-20. The Privateers have taken the slight advantage in the all-time series by winning the last four meetings between the two schools.
Following Saturday's game, Southeastern will return to the road on Thursday. The Lady Lions will travel to Natchitoches for a 5:15 p.m. Southland Conference contest at Northwestern State. The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at
