HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will close out its pre-Thanksgiving schedule on Tuesday with its most formidable challenge of the 2016-17 season with a 7 p.m. non-conference contest at No. 2 Baylor at the Ferrell Center.

Southeastern was able to get in to the win column for the first time last Wednesday, defeating Mobile, 67-52, in the Lady Lions' home opener. SLU limited the visiting Lady Rams to 25.4 percent (15-for-59) field goal shooting and forced Mobile into 22 turnovers.
In the win over Mobile, junior
Taylin Underwood led a balanced Lady Lion attack with a game-high 21 points. Underwood was joined in double figures by senior
Chey Stewart, who tied a career high with 10 points. Junior
Bre Warren added nine points for Southeastern.
Also in the victory, freshman
Tyler Morrison led the Lady Lions with six assists, while Warren added five assists of her own. Freshman
Taz Stinson posted a team-high 10 rebounds in the win over Mobile, while Morrison paced the SLU defense with four steals.
Heading into their fourth contest of the season, the Lady Lions are averaging 59.3 points per game. Underwood, who has scored 52 points in her last two contests, leads Southeastern with 18.7 points per game, followed by junior
Ashailee Brailey (7.0 ppg), Morrison (6.3 ppg), Stinson (6.0 ppg) and Warren (5.3 ppg). Morrison also leads the team with 4.0 assists per contest.
Southeastern is averaging 39.0 rebounds per game, but the Lady Lions have a minus-9.7 rebounding margin heading into Tuesday's contest. Stinson leads the team with 6.7 rebounds per contest, while Morrison has grabbed 6.3 rebounds per outing.
Defensively, SLU is yielding 72.0 points and forcing 22.0 turnovers per game. Morrison paces the Lady Lions with 3.0 steals per game.
Southeastern will be facing a Baylor team that is one of the top contenders for the national championship. The Lady Bears opened the season with wins over Houston Baptist (118-43) and UCLA (84-70). After falling at defending national champion Connecticut, 72-61, BU bounced back with a 101-36 victory over Mississippi Valley State.
Baylor is averaging 91.0 points per game and has outscored opponents by an average of 35.8 points per outing. Kalani Brown leads BU with 16.8 points per game and is one of four Lady Bears averaging in double figures, along with Alexis Jones (15.0 ppg), Nina Davis (12.0 ppg) and Alexis Prince (10.5 ppg). Brown leads the team with 11.3 rebounds per game, while Jones averages a team-high 4.0 assists per outing.
Southeastern will be facing a hometown hero on Tuesday, as Baylor is coached by Hammond native Kim Mulkey. Mulkey is an alum of Hammond High School, where she led the Lady Tors to four consecutive state championships. She went on to star at Louisiana Tech, helping the Lady Techsters to a pair of national championships.
Baylor has won all five previous meetings between the two teams. The teams last met in 2012-13 with the Lady Bears taking a 106-41 decision in Waco, Texas.
Following Tuesday's contest, Southeastern will return home on Friday to host Bethune-Cookman at 1 p.m. in the University Center.
