HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana baseball's Lions Vs. Cancer Game highlights the upcoming Southland Conference weekend series at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field against Incarnate Word.
Game times for Southeastern's (21-12, 7-5 Southland) series with the Cardinals (10-20, 3-3 Southland) are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
The series opener is a $5 Friday at the ballpark. All general admission tickets are $5 and a concession stand special will also be available for $5 during the game.
Saturday is Alumni Day. All former players in attendance will be honored on the field prior to the game with special recognition given to the 2010 squad. Baseball-themed bingo is also available at Saturday's game. As part of Super Lion Saturday, a tailgate party sponsored by Gus O'Krepki will be held leading up to the game.
Sunday's 1 p.m. series finale is the Lions Vs. Cancer Game. The baseball team is joining with the Vs. Cancer Foundation to aid in the fight against pediatric cancer by raising funds and awareness. The Vs. Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving kids' lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving childhood cancer efforts.
Following Sunday's game the entire baseball team will shave their heads at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field to raise awareness. Fans are encouraged to make donations online. Fans can donate to the team's cause by going to
http://Lions.vs-cancer.org. A donation can also be made in the name of an individual Southeastern player by clicking on the players name along the right side of the web site.
All of the money raised for the Vs. Cancer Foundation is split in half, with half of the proceeds going to national childhood cancer research, while the other half is donated to local childhood cancer hospitals and other efforts. The Lions will donate their local portion to the Ochsner Cancer Institute in New Orleans, La.
Sunday's game is also Take A Kid To The Game Day and Academy Family Sunday in the Park. Children 12 and under will be admitted free with a paying adult (one child per adult admission). Roomie's Kid Zone, sponsored by Academy Sports and Outdoors, will be open down the left-field line featuring a special Cub Club celebration and other family-friendly activities (weather pending).
Fans will also have a chance Sunday to enjoy the Raising Cane's Challenge. If the Lions score five or more runs in the game, fans presenting their ticket stub (or student coupon), and purchasing a combo at a participating Raising Cane's, will receive a free combo of equal or lesser value (through the following day).

Southeastern is coming off a 5-1 victory over Tulane this past Wednesday and has taken the first two games in the three-game season series.

Jacob Williams (.302) lead Southeastern at the plate.
Brett Hoffman owns a team-high nine doubles. Godbold's three home runs lead the team and he is second in the conference with 30 RBIs. Fisher, who owns the fourth-highest batting average in the Southland, has driven in 22.
The Lions are hitting .282 as team and have been successful on 53-of-81 stolen base attempts. Southeastern's pitching staff has compiled a 2.87 ERA, third-lowest in the Southland, fanning 239 batters in 295 innings pitched.
Junior right-hander
Andro Cutura (5-1, 2.28) earns the series opening start for the Lions, drawing sophomore righty Geno Encina (4-4, 2.82) for the Cardinals. Cutura entered the week 15th nationally with 59 strikeouts.
Saturday the Lions will send sophomore right-hander
Tate Scioneaux (5-2, 2.48) to the mound against UIW left-hander Dylan Boss (1-3, 4.58). Senior right-hander
Sean Kennel (3-2, 3.53) draws the starting nod for Southeastern in Sunday's series finale opposite Cardinal junior righty Jacob Potts (2-2, 5.62).
Slade Brown (.319) and Jesse Hoover (.301) lead UIW at the plate. Brown owns a team-best seven doubles and 21 RBIs. Hoover has hit the team's only home run. The Cardinals are hitting .246 as a team and have been successful on 18-of-30 stolen base attempts. UIW's pitching staff has compiled a 5.35 ERA, fanning 153 batters in 259 innings of work.
The Cardinals have won three of their last four games, taking a pair of games from the University of New Orleans in Southland play this past weekend and then beating UT-Pan American 14-3 during the week.
