2014 (Sophomore): A Preseason All-Southland Conference selection (second team) … started all 63 games … hit a conference-best .389 with 17 doubles, one triple and 39 RBIs … finished the season ranked 15th nationally in batting average … also led the Southland in hits (93) and on-base percentage (.481) ... was second in doubles (17) and sacrifice flies (6), and fourth in runs scored (53) … stole nine bases in 17 attempts … season hit total was the second most in school history and batting average was the sixth highest … started 50 games at catcher and the remainder at first base … hit .480 (24-for-50) leading off an inning, .420 (29-for-69) with runners in scoring position and .850 (17-for-20) with a runner at third base and less than two outs … churned out 30 multi-hit performances, including a career-best 5-for-5 effort with three RBIs and three runs scored against Nicholls State (5/4) … tied a school single-game record with three doubles at Louisiana-Monroe (2/28) … doubles record was part of back-to-back four hit performances against Grambling State (2/26) and ULM … recorded three hits in games against South Alabama (4/1), Tulane (5/6), McNeese State (5/11), Northwestern State (5/17), Central Arkansas (5/24) and Houston (6/1) … compiled a team-high 14-game hitting streak (5/2-24) and 26-game reached base streak (4/12-5/24) … named Louisiana Hitter of the Month for February after hitting .500 (18-for-36) with four doubles, 10 RBIs and six stolen bases … named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week (5/12) after the pair of three-hit games against Tulane and McNeese … an excellent student, he was a Capital One Academic All-District selection … through two seasons his .354 career batting average is the sixth best in school history.
2013 (Freshman): Named a Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association … started games at three different positions: designated hitter, first base and catcher ... led Southeastern in several statistical categories, including games played (60), batting average (.315), at bats (219), runs scored (38) hits (69), triples (2), home runs (3), total bases (93), slugging percentage (.425), hit by pitches (12), on-base percentage (.403) and multi-hit games (20) … recorded three hits against Texas Southern (3/1), Hartford (3/10), Northwestern State (3/22), Jackson State (4/9), Stephen F. Austin (4/20) and McNeese State (5/18) … stole a pair of bases, including home plate, gainst UT-Martin (2/15) … tied school record being hit by a pitch three times in a single game againt Lamar (5/25) in the Southland Conference Tournament … named to the All-Tournament Team.
High School: Drafted in the 24th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft by the Chicago Cubs … a four-year letterman in baseball for Zachary HS … hit .554 as a senior with 14 doubles, seven triples and 38 RBIs … named a HS All-American by Baseball America and All-State by ESPN … earned multiple All-State, All-Metro and All-District honors.
