HAMMOND, La. – Nine Southeastern Louisiana University track and field athletes earned qualifying marks for the 2013 NCAA Track & Field Preliminary Championships Competition at the East Regional in Greenboro, N.C., May 23-25.
The top 48 athletes in the region in each of 20 events (both men's and women's), plus the top 24 relay teams, qualified for the competition.
Alicia Noel, the Southland Conference champ in the women's 400-meter hurdles (59.47 seconds), is the No. 41-ranked competitor in the east. She will be joined by
Brittany Pfantz in the women's pole vault (No. 34; 12 feet, 11.50 inches) as well as
Jenna Baker (No. 38; 147-01) and
Misha Frazier (No. 40; 146-09) in the women's javelin throw.
Derek Hampton and
Jeffrey Milliron, both Southland champs, lead the men. Milliron qualified in the men's discus throw (No. 11; 187-03) while
Jonathan Kinchen will participate in the men's hammer throw (No. 20; 203-05). Hampton (No. 14; 225-04) will be joined in the men's javelin throw by
Casey Revere (No. 41; 210-00).
Phillippe Moore also qualified for the men's long jump (No. 32; 24-04.50).
The top 12 athletes in each event in both the east and west regionals will qualify for the finals competition, June 5-8, in Eugene, Ore.
