WACO, Texas – Off to its best start in over 20 seasons, the undefeated Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will be back in action on Sunday, facing No. 3 Baylor at 2 p.m. in the Ferrell Center.

The Lady Lions (5-0) are unbeaten through its first five contests for the first time since the 1988-89 season, when Southeastern opened the season 6-0. Sunday's game will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the Internet at www.LionSports.net. Live stats and video (subscription required) are also available at www.baylorbears.com.

Baylor is the highest-ranked team Southeastern has faced under ninth-year head coach Lori Davis Jones. Sunday's contest will be the Lady Lions first versus a ranked opponent since a 97-47 loss to then-No. 18 LSU on Dec. 20, 2003.

Southeastern's hot start has allowed it to receive some national recognition of its own, as the Lady Lions are one of four Southland teams to receive votes in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25.

The poll, the first of its kind for women's basketball, includes teams from 22 different conferences. The 31-member voting panel includes coaches from throughout the nation. Jones and McNeese State head coach Brooks Donald Williams are the Southland Conference representatives on the voting panel.

In their most recent action, the Lady Lions held off a late Jackson State rally for a 72-69 win on Tuesday in Hammond. Junior guard Kelli Jenkins scored the go-ahead basket with 19 seconds remaining, while also leading the team with seven assists and three steals. Junior guard Latoria Holder (13 points), freshman forward Aja Gibson (11 points) and senior forward Rashima Jenkins (10 points) joined Kelli Jenkins in double figures.

Southeastern leads the Southland with 78.0 points per game. Kelli Jenkins leads a balanced Southeastern attack with 11.2 points per game, followed by Rashima Jenkins (10.4 ppg), Holder (10.2 ppg), Gibson (9.6 ppg) and senior guard Chelsea Hix (9.2 ppg). The team also has a league-best 46.4 field goal percentage, as Kelli Jenkins (58.5, 3rd), Gibson (57.6, 4th) and Rashima Jenkins (52.6, 6th) are among the league's most accurate shooters.

Kelli Jenkins leads the Southland Conference with 6.6 assists per game and is ninth on the school's career assists list. Hix, who ranks in the school's career top five in three-point field goals made and attempted and three-point field goal percentage, is sixth in the league with 2.8 three-point field goals per game.

The Lady Lions are averaging 42.0 rebounds per game and out-rebounding opponents by just under 10 boards per contest. Rashima Jenkins is fifth in the Southland with 8.0 rebounds per game. Junior forward Shauna Stewart (5.0 rpg), senior center Rachel Mackie (4.8 rpg) and Gibson (4.6 rpg) are the other top rebounders on the team.

Defensively, Southeastern has held opponents to 56.2 points per game and lead the league with 16.0 steals per game. Holder and senior guard Mary Fountain share the conference lead with 3.2 steals per game for Southeastern, which is forcing 28.2 turnovers per game. Holder is sixth in the Southland with a team-high 1.2 blocks per game.

Southeastern will be facing a legitimate national title contender in Baylor. Under Mulkey, the Lady Bears are coming off a 2009-10 Final Four appearance. Baylor also features the nation's most dominating inside presence in sophomore forward Brittney Griner.

Sunday's game will be Baylor's third in the last six days. On Friday, the Lady Bears moved past Liberty, 81-42, behind Griner's 35 points, nine rebounds and seven blocked shots. Freshman guard Odyssey Sims added 12 points, while sophomore forward Brooklyn Pope chipped in 10 points.

Baylor has also dominated the boards, averaging 46.4 rebounds per contest and out-rebounding foes by 13.1 boards per outing. Jones and Griner are averaging 8.4 and 8.1 rebounds per game, respectively.
