Southeastern Defeats Mobile to Close Out 4-Game Home Stretch

SLU moves past Mobile 75-47 to take on Wichita State Tuesday evening on the road.

HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team gained its third win in non-conference play over Mobile University 75-47 Saturday afternoon at the Pride Roofing University Center.

Southeastern (3-3) came out to a slow start to begin the game, but held Mobile (7-1) to only 19 points in the first half of the contest. The Lady Lions finished the first half with two dominant quarters scoring over 20 points.

Junior transfer Cheyanne Daniels scored the first eight points for the Lady Lions and finished leading both teams with 20 points. Daniels had a prolific performance finishing 90.0 percent from the field. The Shawnee Community College transfer was a problem for the Rams and contributed almost half of Southeastern's 48 points in the paint.

Mobile went on an eight point run mid-way into the fourth quarter to cut into the deficit. The Rams attained a 14-13 point advantage over Southeastern from second chance opportunities. Braylee McMath and Lindi Debilizan led Mobile in scoring tied with 10 points along with Miya Kimber following up with eight.

SLU continued to control the game with its largest scoring run coming in the second quarter collecting an 18-point advantage over Mobile. The Lady Lions kept the momentum for the majority of the game to start the fourth quarter with a 33-point lead.

Allasia Washington contributed 15 points and six rebounds off the bench. Southeastern's reserves produced 33 points along with Kennedy Paul and Jalencia Pierre who tied with six points. Junior guard Taylor Bell made an impact on the boards securing nine rebounds to lead the team. Hailey Giaratano finished another game in double-digit scoring for the last six games with 10 points and six rebounds.

The Lady Lions will return to action Tuesday, traveling to Witchia, Kansas for a 6 p.m. matchup against Wichita State Nov. 28.
