HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will open a three-game home stand on Wednesday, hosting Southland Conference foe Central Arkansas at 7 p.m. in the University Center.
The Southeastern Sports Network will offer a free video stream of the contest between the Lady Lions (7-11, 4-5 Southland) and the visiting Sugar Bears (8-10, 4-5 Southland). Tune in online at

Aminat Jubril is Wednesday's Spotlight Player of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Lagos, Nigeria native courtesy of PRIDE.
Southeastern will be looking for its third straight victory when Central Arkansas comes to town. On Saturday, SLU closed out a three-game road swing with a 72-56 victory over Northwestern State in Natchitoches. The Lady Lions shot 66.7 percent (16-for-24) from the field in the second half to pull away from the host Lady Demons.
In the win over NSU,
Celica Sterling led three Southeastern players in double figures with 17 points.
Alexius Horne (14 points, eight assists) and
Morgan Carrier (12 points) were the other top contributors for SLU. Sterling also led the Lady Lions with three steals, while
Caitlyn Williams grabbed a game-high six rebounds.
Sterling has been an efficient scorer for the Lady Lions, ranking sixth in the Southland with 13.7 points per game.
Jyar Francis (10.9 ppg) and Horne (10.7 ppg) join her in double figures, while Carrier (7.6 ppg) and
Charliee Dugas (7.5 ppg) round out the top five scorers for SLU.
Horne also doubles as the team's top playmaker. With 20 assists in the last three games, the freshman from Denham Springs has vaulted to fourth in the Southland with 3.6 dimes per outing. Dugas enters Saturday's game needing 49 points to become the 21
st student-athlete in program history to reach 1,000 career points.
Behind the sharp shooting of Sterling (39-for-109), Carrier (28-for-58) and Francis (19-for-73), the Lady Lions are averaging 6.1 three-point field goals per game. Sterling's 2.2 treys per contest is good for fourth in the conference and her 105 career three-point field goals represent the sixth-highest total in school history.
Southeastern improved to 3-0 this season when outrebounding an opponent on Saturday at NSU, but still enter Wednesday's contest with a minus-5.7 rebounding margin. Williams leads the team and is 14
th in the Southland with 5.8 rebounds per contest and needs 43 rebounds to crack the school's career top 15.
Opponents are averaging 66.6 points and 18.2 turnovers per game versus the Lady Lions. Horne's 1.9 steals per game are good for ninth in the Southland, while Williams (16, 9
th) and Jubril (14, 14
th) are among the league's blocked shot leaders.
Central Arkansas comes to Hammond having lost four of its last five games, though the Sugar Bears are 3-2 in conference road games this season. On Saturday, a late rally fell short in a 74-64 home loss to league co-leader Abilene Christian.
Taylor Sells has been the top offensive threat for Central Arkansas, leading the team with 9.7 points per game and sitting 14
th in the Southland with 2.4 assists per game. Hannah Langhi leads UCA with 5.8 rebounds per contest, as the Sugar Bears enter Wednesday's game with a plus-5.4 margin on the boards.
Central Arkansas is limiting opponents to 57.4 points per game. Langhi leads UCA with 18 steals and 17 blocked shots.
Central Arkansas leads the all-time series between the two schools, 17-9. The Lady Lions and Sugar Bears have split a pair of meetings in each of the past two seasons with each squad protecting their respective home courts.
