HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will close out a three-game home stand on Saturday, hosting Southland Conference foe Nicholls at 1 p.m. in the University Center.
Saturday is Youth Day in the University Center, as all fans 12 and under will receive free admission. Any fan with a current valid middle school, junior high or high school ID receives admission for $3.
Breonca Ducksworth is Saturday's Spotlight Player of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Taylorsville, Mississippi native courtesy of PRIDE.
The game between SLU (5-9, 2-3 Southland) and Nicholls (3-11, 0-5 Southland) will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at

The Lady Lions-Colonels meeting is the opener of a doubleheader in the UC, as the Southeastern men's basketball team faces Nicholls at 4 p.m. in the nightcap. At halftime of the nightcap, the 2018 national championship banner for the Lionnette dance team will be unveiled.
Southeastern will be looking to move back to .500 in Southland Conference play on Saturday. The Lady Lions led league-leading Sam Houston State at the half, but the Bearkats pulled away by outscoring SLU, 48-32, in the second half. SHSU earned an 84-69 victory on Wednesday in Hammond
Alexius Horne led SLU with 19 points, while
Morgan Carrier (15 points),
Jyar Francis (14 points) and
Celica Sterling (nine points) were the other top scorers for Southeastern. Sterling is sixth in the Southland with 13.4 points per game, while Francis (11.3 ppg), Horne (9.5 ppg) and Carrier (7.4 ppg) both the other top scoring averages for the Lady Lions.
Tyler Morrison led Southeastern with three assists in Wednesday. Horne's 2.9 assists per contest are good for ninth in the Southland.
With 84 made three-point field goals on the season, Southeastern ranks fourth in the Southland. Sterling (2.1, 7
th) and Carrier (1.4, 15
th) rank among the league leaders in three-point field goals made per game, while Carrier is second in the conference with a 45.5 field goal percentage.
The Lady Lions enter Saturday's contest with a minus-5.4 rebounding margin.
Caitlyn Williams has a team-best 5.9 rebounds per game – good for 13
th in the Southland.
Opponents are scoring 67.7 points and committing 18.1 turnovers per outing versus SLU. Horne is tied for eighth in the Southland with 2.0 steals per game. Morrison's 141 career steals have her eighth on the program's all-time career leaderboard.
Nicholls comes to town looking for its first league victory of 2019-20. The Colonels dropped decisions to league foes Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (12/18, 55-49), Abilene Christian (12/21, 95-84), UIW (1/2, 53-51), Sam Houston State (1/4, 87-71) and Lamar (1/8, 84-78).
The Colonels feature a balanced attack. Airi Hamilton leads the team with 11.6 points per game, followed by Chrystal Ezechukwu (11.3 ppg), Adrian Mann (10.2 ppg), Tykeria Williams (9.9 ppg) and Loan-Anh Johnson (9.4 ppg). Ezechukwu leads the team with 7.0 rebounds per game, while Williams is third in the league with 4.2 assists per outing.
Southeastern is 58-25 versus Nicholls. The Colonels have won the last three meetings and swept the season series in 2018-19.
