HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will look to end its Southland Conference road woes on Saturday, when it travels to face league foe Central Arkansas at 2 p.m. at the Farris Center in Conway, Arkansas.

The Lady Lions (9-12, 4-6 Southland) heads into Saturday's contest with an 0-4 record in league play away from home. Southeastern is also attempting to earn a series sweep of the host Sugar Bears (8-12, 3-7 Southland) for the first time since the 2008-09 campaign. To do so, SLU will need to secure its first victory at UCA since the 2012-13 season.

Southeastern snapped a three-game losing streak with a smothering defensive effort in a 56-45 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday in the University Center. The Lady Lions held the Islanders to 27.6 percent (16-for-58) field goal shooting and yielded the lowest point total to a Southland opponent since a 71-41 victory over UT Arlington on Feb. 18, 2012.

Jaclyn Scholvin and Celica Sterling led SLU offensively in the win, netting 18 points each, while Caitlyn Williams added nine points. Tyler Morrison added a team-high 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Saturday's game will feature two of the top scorers in the Southland Conference in Sterling (15.9 ppg) and UCA's Kamry Orr (15.5 ppg), who rank third and fourth, respectively, in the league scoring ranks. Both are the lone double-digit scorers on their teams, as UCA is averaging 59.7 points per game, while SLU is scoring at a 57.3 point per game clip. Morrison (3.7 apg, 6th), Orr (3.3 apg, 9th) and Scholvin (3.2 apg, 10th) also sit on the Southland leaderboard.

For Southeastern to get its first road victory, the Lady Lions will need to do better work on the glass. The Lady Lions come to Conway with a minus-7.6 rebounding margin, while UCA has outrebounded foes by an average of 2.5 rebounds per game. Williams is the top rebounder in Saturday's contest, ranking fifth in the league with 7.0 rebounds per outing.

Both teams have excelled on the defensive end this season. Opponents are averaging 64.0 points and committing 18.0 turnovers versus SLU, while UCA is yielding 59.7 points and forcing 18.0 turnovers per game. Orr leads the Sugar Bears with 2.3 steals per game, while Scholvin is the most adept Lady Lion at swiping pockets, averaging just under two steals per outing.

UCA leads the all-time series, 16-9, though Southeastern has won the last two meetings, including a 62-53 win in Hammond on Jan. 5. In the first meeting, Sterling netted a game-high 20 points, while Williams posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Lions to victory.

Saturday's game will be the first of two straight on the road for the Lady Lions. On Wednesday, SLU heads to San Antonio, Texas for a 6:30 p.m. Southland contest at Incarnate Word. The Southeastern-UIW contest can be heard live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the Lions Game Day Experience, RadioFX and TuneIn Radio apps.
