Final Standings
SHREVEPORT, La. – Lance Yates shot a 71 (-1) for the Southeastern Louisiana golf team Sunday in the final round of the David Toms Intercollegiate Tournament at Southern Trace Country Club.
Yates started the round with a bogey. But the Baton Rouge, Louisiana native rallied nicely as he stroked an eagle on a 545-yard par 5. The freshman had six pars, three birdies and three bogeys over his final 12 holes to finish the round at -1.
Juniors
Logan Kuehn and Kris Kerr also finished off the tournament strongly for the Lions as both shot even par, 72.
Kuehn had 14 pars, two birdies and double bogey. The Lake Charles, Louisiana native finished +5 for the tournament.
Kerr had a bit more of an eventful final round. The Loranger, Louisiana product had four birdies and four bogeys over the final 18 holes to wrap up the tournament.
"It's always great to play in this tournament with a lot of great teams," said SLU golf head coach
Jake Narro. "We're working hard each day but just simply not getting the results collectively. I thought we had some good individual performances today but have a lot of work to do as a unit.
LSU claimed the team title decisively as Trey Winstead and Hayden White took home a share of the individual title shooting -17 each for the Tigers. LSU's Garrett Barber finished second with -15.
SLU will be back on the course Monday, Oct. 14 at the Bubba Barnette Intercollegiate Tournament in Jonesboro, Arkansas hosted by Arkansas State.
