Lions to Light the Pat Up Blue Tuesday for Autism Awareness

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana will "Light the Pat Up Blue" Tuesday against Alcorn State at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
Fans are encouraged to wear blue in recognition of Autism Awareness Month and, after the game, the Lions (21-10) will sign posters.
 
Tuesday's game against Alcorn (8-18) is also a Cane's Challenge contest. When the Lions score four or more runs, fans can take their game ticket or student coupon to their local participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers to receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
 
The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, and worldwide online or through either the Radio FX or TuneIn apps. Fans can also keep up with all the action through streaming video, live statistics or by following @SLUathletics on Twitter. Southeastern junior right-hander Mason Knopp (2-1, 3.09) opposes Alcorn senior right-hander Jahborus Smith (2-4, 6.45) on the mound in Tuesday's non-conference game.

Cody Grosse (.331), Mike Taylor (.319), Drew Avans (.317) and Daniel Wasinger (.313) pace Southeastern's offensive attack. Avans and Kyle Schimpf are tied for the team lead with four home runs, while Schimpf's 28 RBI lead the Southland Conference. Both Avans and Grosse sit atop the conference with 14 stolen bases.
 
The Lions are hitting .258 collectively, with 49 doubles, seven triples and 18 home runs. Their 79 stolen bases rank third nationally. Southeastern's pitching staff has compiled a 3.51 ERA. They have struck out 241 batters through 276.2 innings of work and issued the fourth-fewest walks per game (2.60) in the nation. Opponents are hitting .237 off Lion pitching.
 
Southeastern took a pair from McNeese over the weekend, while Alcorn snapped a six-game skid by taking 2-of-3 at Alabama A&M.
 
Nicholas Hayes-Saltare (.324), Hunter Wilson (.293) and Justin Barna (.292) are the Braves' top hitters. Brendly Martina leads the team with three home runs. Wilson has driven in a team-high 23 runs and Devin Walden paces the club with seven stolen bases.
 
Alcorn is hitting .252 as a team, with 40 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs and 22 stolen bases. The Braves' pitching staff has combined for a 7.70 ERA and 168 strikeouts in 209.1 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .304 off Alcorn pitching.
 
Southeastern continues its five-game homestand Friday against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

General Admission tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for children (ages 3-12). Tax is included in the price of admission. Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card.

Students, campus organizations and fans can earn points toward their Lion Up Loyalty account at any home game by checking in on the mobile app while in attendance.
