HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will be back on the road on Saturday, traveling to Nicholls for a 4 p.m. contest in Stopher Gymnasium.
The game between the Lady Lions (3-16, 2-6 Southland) and the host Colonels (8-11, 3-5 Southland) will be the opener of a doubleheader in Thibodaux, as the SLU men's team (12-9, 6-2 Southland) faces league leader Nicholls (13-8, 7-1 Southland) at 6:30 p.m.

Southeastern will be looking to bounce back after having a two-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday. Sam Houston State outscored SLU, 17-8, in the final quarter to rally for a 57-52 victory.

Jaclyn Scholvin led Southeastern with 10 points apiece on Wednesday. Sophomore guard
Tyler Morrison paced the Lady Lions with eight rebounds, six steals and five assists versus the Bearkats.
Despite a season-low six points in Wednesday's loss, Southeastern senior guard
Taylin Underwood is second in the Southland with 19.3 points per game. The Livingston, Louisiana native's 1,408 career points are the seventh-most in program history.

Caitlyn Williams (7.2 ppg) and Dugas (6.5 ppg) are the top active scorers for Southeastern. Both Morrison (3.0 apg, 12
th) and Underwood (2.8 apg, 14
th) are among the league assist leaders.
Underwood also continues to lead the Southland with 3.5 three-point field goals per game and her 237 career three-point field goals are the fifth-most in Southland Conference history. Junior guard
Ashailee Brailey (37.7, 5
th) and Underwood (37.1, 7
th) both are among the conference's best in terms of three-point field goal percentage.
SLU is averaging 35.9 rebounds per contest heading into Saturday's game.
Caitlyn Williams leads the team and is eighth in the league with 6.9 rebounds per game, while Underwood (5.3 rpg, 20
th) joins her among the Southland rebounding leaders.
After forcing SHSU into 22 turnovers on Wednesday, SLU is up to averaging 18.5 turnovers forced per game. Morrison has been the catalyst, as the Baton Rouge, Louisiana native is ninth in the league with 2.1 steals per contest.
Nicholls will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak when the Lady Lions come to town. The Colonels suffered a 76-61 home loss to Lamar on Wednesday, despite double-figure scoring efforts from senior guard Tia Charles (15 points), sophomore guard Tykeria Williams (13 points), junior guard Cassidy Barrios (11 points) and senior center Marina Lilly (10 points). Barrios also posted a double-double with 11 rebounds to go with her team-high five assists and four blocked shots.
Barrios has been Nicholls' top player, sitting high on the conference leaderboard in scoring (14.4 ppg, 7
th), rebounding (9.4 rpg, 7
th), assists (3.2 apg, 8
th), steals (2.8 spg, 2
nd) and blocked shots (1.2, 5
th). Tykeria Williams is second on the team and ninth in the league with 13.1 points per game, while also ranking in the top five in three-point field goals made and three-point field goal percentage.
Charles has also been a significant contributor and is third on the team with 9.0 points per game. The New Orleans, Louisiana native shares the team lead in assists with Barrios and is third in the Southland with 2.5 steals per game.
Southeastern has a convincing 57-22 advantage in the all-time series, though Nicholls has won five of the last six meetings, including a season sweep of the series in 2016-17. SLU will be searching for its first win in Thibodaux since the 2010-11 season. Saturday will mark the first of two meetings in the final month-plus of 2017-18 between the two in-state rivals, as Nicholls visits the University Center on March 3 in the regular season finale.
