HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team will return to host a pair of Southland Conference matches this weekend at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Lions (3-6, 0-3 Southland) will host Northwestern State (9-4, 2-1 Southland) on Saturday, while Stephen F. Austin (6-6, 2-2 Southland) visits on Sunday. First serve for both matches is 11 a.m.
Southeastern will be playing a home match for the first time since a 4-3 victory over Jackson State on Feb. 11. SLU has played its last six matches away from home since the win over JSU.
The Lions will be looking to bounce back from a pair of narrow 4-3 losses at Nicholls and UNO last week. In Saturday's loss to the Privateers, five of the six singles matches were decided in three sets.
In singles play, juniors
Dalina Dahlmans and
Fleur Holtkamp share the team lead with a 4-5 dual-match record. Juniors
Madina Vorotnikova (3-5),
Natalie Duran (3-6),
Dany Raygadas (3-6) and
Lucia Bustamante (1-7) round out the singles lineup. Dahlmans and Holtkamp are the team's best doubles tandem with a 6-3 record on the No. 1 court.
Northwestern State is led in singles play by Judit Castillo, who has a team-best 7-1 record this spring. In doubles play, Emilija Dancetovic and Polina Ivanova have an 8-3 mark as a team in dual match play.
Liza Aginskaya (8-1) leads Sunday's foe, Stephen F. Austin, in singles action. Aginskaya and Kaja Ljubic, as well as the tandem of Gabi Guilarte and Denise Maxi are both 4-1 in doubles play this spring.
Following this weekend's action, SLU will head to Abilene Christian for a 12 p.m. match on Friday, March 24 in Abilene, Texas.
