LUBBOCK, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana senior
Grady Brame carded an opening round 69 to lead the Lion men's golf team on the first day of the NCAA Lubbock Regional Thursday afternoon at The Rawls Course.
As a team, Southeastern sits in ninth place after shooting one-over par 285 on the par-71 course. The top five teams in each regional and the top individual not on one of those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 29-June 3 at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida.
Southeastern is six strokes out of the top five after the initial 18 holes. Purdue and California are tied for fifth place at five-under par.
Top-seeded Texas is the day one leader with a first-round score of 273 (-11), holding a one-stroke lead over Houston. Purdue's Austin Eoff shot an opening-round 65 to sit atop the individual standings.
Brame led the Lions with a two-under par and sits in a tie for 13
th place. The Hammond native was among Thursday's top performers on par five (-2) and par three holes (-1).
Junior
Eamon Bradley was also one-under par on the par three holes on Thursday. Bradley, sophomore
James Anstiss and sophomore
Paul Obermann each shot a 72 (+1) to sit in a tie for 42
nd place. Rounding out the Lion lineup was junior
Lawrence Allan (T61st, +3).
