HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana men's golf team placed four student-athletes on the All-Southland Conference teams, which were released by the league office on Monday.
Senior
Grady Brame was named to the first team for the second straight season. Sophomore
James Anstiss was named the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year and was named to the third team, where he was joined by junior teammate
Lawrence Allan. Rounding out the Lion honorees was senior
Baptiste Courtachon, who was an honorable mention selection.
"We're very pleased to have four players represent us on the All-Southland Conference teams," Southeastern head coach
Tim Baldwin said. "Overall, we've had a great year and we're looking forward to competing in NCAA Regionals."
Brame was named to All-Southland Conference team for the third consecutive year, after posting a 72.6 stroke average over 32 rounds in his final season with the Lions. The Hammond, Louisiana native has four top-10 finishes to his credit this season, including a third-place finish at the David Toms Intercollegiate and a fifth-place showing at last week's league championship.
Anstiss, who enrolled in Southeastern for the spring semester, made an immediate impact on the way to becoming SLU's first-ever Newcomer of the Year Award recipient. In 18 rounds this season, he has a 73.5 stroke average. The Queenstown, New Zealand product finished 10
th in the Bayou City Collegiate in his Lion debut and shot a tournament-record 64 in the opening round of the Lone Star Invitational.
Allan earned All-Southland Conference honors for the second straight season, as he claimed honorable mention recognition as a sophomore. The Alva, Scotland native was steady throughout the season, recording a 73.4 stroke average over 26 rounds. Allan saved his top performance of the season for the biggest stage, as he was tied for third at the Southland Conference Tournament, leading the Lions to a third-place finish.
Rounding out the Lion honorees was Courtachon, who made his mark on the team before graduating following the fall semester. In his final year in Hammond, Courtachon carded a 72.8 stroke average over 14 rounds to help Southeastern to a very successful fall.
Southeastern is expected to receive an at-large berth and make its fifth NCAA Regional appearance as a team in the past six seasons. The regional field will be announced on Monday, May 4 at 9 a.m. on the Golf Channel.
