Ashley Riley and freshman
Devin King both recorded second place finishes to lead the Southeastern Louisiana University track and field teams on Friday at the John Mitchell Alabama Relays.
Riley, a Nassua, Bahamas native, recorded a time of 48.50 in the men's 400-meter dash. King, a product of Jewel Sumner High School, posted a height of seventeen feet, 0.75 inches in the men's pole vault. The top three spots in the men's pole vault event were all claimed by freshmen.
Misha Frazier led the Lady Lions' performances once again, with her 4
th place finish in the women's shot put event. The junior posted a mark of forty-seven feet, 11.75 inches. In the women's 100-meter dash,
Daijah Washington (12.33) and Nakiya Smith (12.40) finished 7
th and 8
th, respectively.
In the men's javelin event, junior
Collin Rowland (204-05.00) and senior
Derek Hampton (203-04.00) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, also earning top spots for the Lions.
The three-day event, hosted by the University of Alabama, will conclude on Saturday. Beginning at 12:00 pm with the men's discus throw, the meet will run until approximately 5:30 pm. To follow the action live, click
