SLU Hosts Ball State, Detroit for Midweek Round-Robin

Lady Lions look to close pre-conference schedule on a high note

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will close out the pre-conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday, when it welcomes Ball State and Detroit for a round-robin triple header at North Oak Park.
 
The day's action begins at 2 p.m. with a contest between Ball State (8-11) and Detroit (1-8). At 4 p.m., Southeastern (4-11) will face BSU with the day's finale set for 6 p.m. between Detroit and SLU. Live stats and video (LionVision subscription required) will be available for all of Tuesday's games at LionSports.net.
 
Junior outfielder Katie Lacour and freshman third baseman Sydney Booker have been the top hitters for a Lady Lion team that enters Tuesday with a .306 team batting average. Lacour leads the Southland Conference with a .509 batting average, a .574 on-base percentage and 27 hits.
 
Booker has been the team's top power threat, leading the team with two home runs, six doubles and 17 runs batted in. Freshman outfielder Kinsey Nichols leads SLU with three triples, while Booker has two. Junior designated player Amber Sather leads the Lady Lions with nine walks and needs four walks to become the school's career leader in that category.
 
Junior Taylor Bishop (2-3, 2.52 ERA) and freshman Nicole Ayala (2-2, 3.99 ERA) have been the top two pitchers for SLU. As a staff, the Lady Lions have a 5.34 team earned run average.
 
Junior shortstop Selena Reyna (.371) and junior middle infielder Emily Dabkowski (.356, 5 HR, 22 RBI) are the top hitters for BSU. In the circle, junior Nicole Steinbach (4-5, 4.11 ERA) has thrown the majority of the innings for the Cardinals.
 
Detroit is hitting .204 as a team and is led by junior first baseman/pitcher Christa McGahuey (.316, 2 HR). McGahuey (0-5, 7.13 ERA) and freshman Hannah Leppek (1-2, 3.06 ERA) have handled the majority of the work in the circle for the Titans.
 
Following Tuesday's action, Southeastern will open Southland Conference play with a three-game series at Abilene Christian. The series opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and concludes with a 12 p.m. contest on Saturday.
