HAMMOND, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team claimed a 6-2 exhibition victory over LSU Eunice Wednesday evening at North Oak Park.
 
Southeastern improved to 2-0 this fall with Wednesday's 10-inning scrimmage win. The Lady Lions outhit the visiting Lady Bengals, 12-9.
 
Shelby Morris and Katherine Thiessen led SLU with two hits, while Addison Contorno scored a team-high two runs. Thiessen, Chloe Magee, Maria Detillier, Colleen Kulivan and Lily Garcia all drove in runs.
 
After LSUE took a 2-1 lead in the second inning, Southeastern pitching held the visitors scoreless for the final eight innings. Cera Blanchard tossed two scoreless innings, while Thiessen, Bre Clark, Tyler Oubre, Haley Crawford, Celia Lamkin and Hallie Burns each threw one scoreless frame. Clark, Crawford and Burns each struck out two batters.
 
SLU will continue its fall exhibition schedule Thursday at 6 p.m., hosting Northwest Mississippi Community College for a 10-inning scrimmage at North Oak Park.
