HAMMOND, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team opened its fall schedule with a 22-3 victory over Pensacola State College in a 10-inning exhibition Friday evening at North Oak Park.
 
SLU finished with 25 hits in the scrimmage. Ka'Lyn Watson, Cydnee Schneider and Colleen Kulivan led the Lady Lions with three hits apiece.
 
Schneider also led Southeastern with three RBI, while Maria Detillier and Brilee Ford each drove in a pair. Watson and Chloe Magee each scored a team-high three runs.
 
Last season, SLU led Division I in triples and stolen bases. The Lady Lions had six triples in Friday's win, as Detillier, Watson, Schneider, Ford, Katie Lott and Addison Contorno each collected one. Southeastern also swiped 12 bases with Shelby Morris, Kailey Dixon, Kulivan and Magee each recording two steals.
 
Seven Southeastern pitchers – Bre Clark, Cera Blanchard, Celia Lamkin, Macie LaRue, Hallie Burns, Haley Crawford and Tyler Oubre – combined to hold Pensacola State to three hits. Clark led the Lady Lions with three strikeouts, as both she and Lamkin threw two scoreless frames.
 
SLU will continue its fall exhibition schedule Wednesday at 5 p.m., hosting LSU Eunice for a 10-inning scrimmage at North Oak Park.
