LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana cross country squad turned in a solid performance Saturday against a couple of fellow Southland Conference schools at the 10th Annual ASICS McNeese Cowboy Stampede.

Southeastern finished third out of five teams in the men's 4-mile competition with an average time of 22 minutes, 17.44 seconds (92 points). The Lady Lions finished fourth out of eight teams in the women's 5K competition with an average time of 22 minutes, 40.10 seconds (124 points).

Host McNeese State, owners of a No. 9 ranking in the latest USTFCCCA South Central Region poll, won the men's competition (25 points) and UL Lafayette won the women's competition (28 points).

Harry Wiggins led the Lions once again, finishing sixth (20:38.00). Other Top-25 performances for Southeastern included Stephen Cassingham (17th, 21:57.40) and Salvatore Grizzaffi (22, 22:32.90).

Clarissa Smith turned in the Lady Lions' best time (19:36.90), finishing 13th. Hannah Gregoire (19, 20:43.60) and Amber Ferguson (24, 21:07.50) also finished in the Top-25.

Southeastern is tentatively scheduled to run again Oct. 17 at Mississippi College's MC Choctaw Open in Clinton, Mississippi.
