SLU Prepares for NCAA Regional Championships

Southeastern begins Cross Country Regional Championships Friday

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the NCAA South-Central Regional Championships Friday at Agri Park.

The women's 6K race is set for 9:00 a.m. The men's team will compete on the 10K course, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Live scoring for Friday's Regional Championships will be available on the cross country schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

Ava Pitarro has been the Lady Lions' best runner this season, finishing as the top SLU runner in each meet, including the Southland Conference Championships. Friday's performance will be her second consecutive appearance at the Regional Championships.

For the first time in their respective careers, Tanner Salsman and Landen Schillage will compete in the NCAA Regionals. Salsman was Southeastern's first finisher at the SLC Championships, doing so for the fourth time in five meets. Schillage, who ran a season-best time of 27:14.8 in the 8K at the SLC Championships, will look to have a strong performance in his first NCAA Regionals.

With Southeastern competing individually, SLU's runners will have to be among the top-four finishers not running for a Championship-qualifying team to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA National Championships. The 2025 NCAA Division I Cross Country National Championship event will be in Columbia, Mo., at Gans Creek Cross Country Course on Saturday, Nov. 22.
