Southeastern Places Three on All-Southland Teams

Lacour, Moore, Sather selected among league's best

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana sophomore outfielder Katie Lacour, junior third baseman Megan Moore and sophomore designated player Amber Sather were named to the 2014 All-Southland Conference Softball Teams, which were released by the league office on Tuesday.

Lacour was named as a first team selection, while Moore and Sather were both honorable mention choices. Lacour, a native of Port St. Joe, Fla., is the program's first student-athlete to earn first team All-Southland honors since former third baseman Heather Sherrill in 2008. All three SLU selections are on the All-Southland teams for the second straight season.

Lacour, who was a second team All-Southland selection as a freshman, was the catalyst of the Southeastern offense from the leadoff spot, leading the team with a .397 batting average, 60 hits, 27 runs scored and a .477 on-base percentage. Her batting average was the highest by a Lady Lion since Dee Rancher hit .405 in 1999. Lacour, who finished the season on an 11-game hitting streak, hit .425 in conference games and closed the season out strong by hitting .508 in the month of April.

Moore was a third team All-Southland selection last season and was voted among the league's best after posting her best season as a Lady Lion. The Elgin, Texas native led Southeastern with nine home runs and 38 runs batted in on the season – both career highs. Moore did most of her damage in conference play, as her eight home runs versus Southland opposition were tied for the league lead.

Sather rounds out the SLU all-conference contingent with her second straight honorable mention nod. In addition to her six home runs and 24 RBI, the Kennedale, Texas native drew a single-season school record 35 walks and was hit by a single-season school record-tying 13 pitches.

McNeese State senior centerfielder Alanna DiVittorio represented the league regular season champion as the Southland Player and Hitter of the Year. MSU coach Mike Smith was selected the team's top coach, while Cowgirl sophomore Jamie Allred earned Pitcher of the Year honors.

Rounding out the individual winners were Nicholls State freshman outfielder Taylor Terrio (Freshman of the Year) and Central Arkansas junior pitcher Kylee Studioso (Newcomer of the Year). The All-Southland Conference teams were selected by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
