HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will open the home portion of its 2014-15 schedule on Tuesday, hosting in-state foe Southern at 7 p.m. in the University Center.
The game between SLU (0-1) and Southern (1-0) will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the Internet at
www.LionSports.net, where LionVision subscribers can access a live video stream and live stats will also be available. The first 100 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Southeastern coaching staff, courtesy of PRIDE.
Southeastern opened the season with a 109-60 loss at Minnesota on Friday. The Golden Gophers pulled away in the second half, as the Lady Lions were held to 32.5 percent (26-for-80) field goal shooting, while host Minnesota posted a 51.8 field goal percentage (43-for-83).
Junior forward
Nanna Pool led Southeastern with 19 points in the season opener. Pool was joined in double figures by senior guard
Elizabeth Styles, who finished with 14 points. Styles narrowly missed a triple-double, finishing with a team-high nine rebounds and nine assists.

Symone Miller and junior guard
Erica Hernandez each hit two three-point field goals. Pool led SLU with two blocked shots, while Miller, Hernandez, De La Cruz and sophomore forward
Chey Stewart each had a steal.
Southern opened the season with an 85-50 victory over Mobile on Friday. The Jaguars held the visiting Rams to 28.3 percent (17-for-60) field goal shooting and forced 22 Mobile turnovers.
Junior guard Britney Washington led five Southern players in double figures with 20 points to go with a team-high five assists and three blocks. Senior forward Jasmine Jefferson posted a double-double with 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, while senior guard Kendra Coleman (15 points), junior guard Ashley Williams (10 points) and senior guard Keonia Parrish (10 points) joined Washington and Jefferson in double figures. Senior guard Shaquandria Litmon led SU with three steals.
Southeastern is 17-11 all-time versus Southern. Last season, SLU fell, 63-56, in Baton Rouge. Styles led the Lady Lions with 17 points, but 25 turnovers were too much for Southeastern to overcome, as Southern outscored SLU, 40-23, in the second half.
Following Tuesday's game, Southeastern will return to the road. On Friday, the Lady Lions face Troy at 12 p.m.
