Lady Lions Add Dangerfield to 2025-26 Signing Class

Mari Dangerfield signs with Southeastern as the 13th signee of the 2025-26 signing class

HAMMOND, La. – Mari Dangerfield will continue her academic and athletic endeavors as a member of the Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball program for the 2025-26 season, Southeastern head coach Jeff Dow announced Tuesday afternoon.

Dangerfield, a 6-0 combo guard from Dallas, Texas, finished her high school career at Legion Preparatory Academy and joins the Lady Lions with four years of eligibility. Dangerfield finished this past season, averaging 11.0 points per game and 4.3 rebounds. Under the leadership of head coach Taylor Johnson, who's program has produced seven division one student athletes. The incoming freshman ended the 2024-25 season with 264 points to close out her senior campaign.

"We're excited to bring in a young player with the potential that Mari has," stated Coach Dow. "She has played for a tremendous high school program, so she had the opportunity to play against great players every day in practice, but also against solid competition during the season."

Dangerfield helped lead her team in the TCAL League to an overall record of 19-10 this season. The newcomer posted a season high 20 points against Grind Prep of Oklahoma City. Dangerfield competed with her club team, Pro Skills Oklahoma, and was ranked at No. 61 as the best prospect in the 2025 class for the state of Texas. Dangerfield also ranked as the 14th best forward in her class.

"We really like the combination of her length and athleticism, and what that will allow her to do defensively and on the boards," said Dow. "She's got really good footwork on her shot along with range out to the three-point line."

Dangerfield is the 13th signee for Southeastern in its 2025-26 signing class, joining Aliyah Collins, Eryn McKinzie, Taylor Wilkins, Bethany Graves, Mia Ramos, Aisha Marten-Coney, Natalie Huff, Emma Lucio, Fatime Seck, Taylor Ross, Lihi Azouri, and Erynn Williams. As SLU seeks to rebuild with a mission to continue its winning culture in Hammond, America, Coach Dow is excited about the future of the program and what this current class can showcase this upcoming season.

"In all likelihood, this will complete our signing class for the upcoming season as this was certainly unique, essentially building an entire team by signing 13 players in six weeks more or less," commented Coach Dow. "We feel good about the depth and versatility at each spot and look forward to watching them compete. We recruited experienced transfers by design, and we're equally excited about our freshmen and seeing their development."

The 2025-26 Southeastern women's basketball season is set to tip off in early November.
