HAMMOND, La. – Lihi Azouri will continue her academic and athletic endeavors as a member of Southeastern Louisiana University's women's basketball program, Southeastern head coach Jeff Dow announced Monday morning.
A 5-8 guard from Herzliya, Gush Dan, Israel, comes to Hammond, America after gaining three years of professional experience in the Israeli first division. Azouri is the eleventh member of the 2025-26 women's basketball signing class. The Lady Lions previously added Aliyah Collins, Eryn McKinzie, Taylor Wilkins, Bethany Graves, Mia Ramos, Aisha Marten-Coney, Natalie Huff, Emma Lucio, Fatime Seck, and Taylor Ross to bolster the roster.
No stranger to a winning culture, Azouri competed for the Israel FIBA U18 and U20 national teams in the Women's European Championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023. In 2024, Azouri appeared in seven games in the most recent FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket tournament, representing the Israeli Senior National Team. Azouri averaged 13.8 minutes per contest and 4.1 points per game with a season high 14 points versus Hungary. The newcomer shot 5-10 from the field and 4-7 from the three-point line.
"We're thrilled to be adding a player of Lihi's talent and experience. She has had the opportunity to compete with and against high-level players, which should help her smoothly make the transition to our program and the Southland Conference," stated Coach Dow. "With her quickness, she has shown the ability to get to the rim and finish, while at the same time being a very solid 3-point shooter."
This past season, Azouri played for Hapoel Ramat HaSharon and averaged 8.5 points per game while shooting 37.0 percent from behind the arch and 79.0 percent from the free throw line. The sharp shooter posted a season-high 23 points and 6 rebounds to help the team secure a 82-65 victory over E. Holon. Azouri returned later in the season to drop 21 points in 23 minutes of action, while shooting 7-10 from the three point line in an 87-64 win against M. Ramat Gan.
This summer, Azouri will play for Israel's national 3-on-3 team in tournaments that will be held in Slovakia and Lithuania.
