HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team confronts a demanding seven-game nonconference schedule in conjunction with 22 Southland Conference contests to make up its 2025-26 season schedule Tuesday afternoon.
Southeastern will look to continue its winning culture as the program enters a new era under first-year head coach Jeff Dow. The Lady Lions revamp with 13 newcomers in order to rebuild for the upcoming season.
SLU finished 26-6 overall and 19-1 in conference play to close out a historic run last season as reigning SLC regular season champion. The program earned its first appearance in the Women's Mid Major Top 25 poll and the postseason Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament.
The Lady Lions will open the 2025-26 at home Nov. 3 against Centenary before ending their nonconference slate in the University Center versus Memphis (Dec. 20).
SLU will hit the road for five contests throughout nonconference play, starting off against LSU (Nov. 6) in Baton Rouge, La. The Lady Lions and the Lady Tigers will be meeting for the first time since 2023, when the Lady Lions fell 73-50 as LSU head coach Kim Mulkey returned to her hometown in Hammond, America.
Southeastern's road games will also include trips to Arkansas (Nov. 13), Southern Miss (Nov. 18), and Baylor (Dec. 3) before closing nonconference against Texas (Dec. 28).
SLU last made the journey to Austin, Texas in 2011 with the Longhorns holding off the Lady Lions, 73-65.
Southeastern will interrupt its nonconference schedule to open Southland Conference play at home against East Texas A&M (Nov. 22), in adherence to the league's new 22 game conference slate. All 12 women's basketball teams will play 11 home and 11 away games, marking the largest number of contests in SLC women's basketball history.
The Lady Lions conference schedule includes stops from Northwestern State (Dec. 7), reigning SLC Tournament champion SFA (Jan. 3), New Orleans (Jan. 8), McNeese (Jan. 22), Nicholls (Jan. 24), Lamar (Jan. 29), UIW (Feb. 5), HCU (Feb. 7), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Feb. 19), and UTRGV (Feb. 21).
SLU will face HCU (Dec. 12) for its first conference road test of the season before visiting UIW (Dec. 31), McNeese (Jan. 10), UTRGV (Jan. 15), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Jan. 17), SFA (Jan. 31), East Texas A&M (Feb. 12), Northwestern State (Feb. 14), New Orleans (Feb. 26), and Nicholls (Feb. 28). The Lady Lions will conclude the regular season against Lamar (March 2) in Beaumont, Texas.
